With the new features now available in Windows Live Maps, I thought it would be a great chance to have a chat with your favorite "I love Microsoft stuff I don't really work on" Mega-Microsoftie, Stefan Weitz. Yeah, he's that awesome.

In this heavy-on-demos session you will see a few of the features Live Maps has to offer including our 3D rendering coupled with real photos from Birds Eye--VERY slick stuff. In addition, Stefan goes into the traffic enhancements we have made ranging from the visualization in the 3D world to helping you save time by rerouting you based on heavy traffic.

See how many times you can count Stefan say "BOOM!"

Also, check out Stefan's debut on Channel 8 if you liked this demo.

Awesome post!  I can't wait for a continuation of your little "saga"!

Thanks!!!

MS RULES!

This actually was a neat video to watch, I really haven't "mastered" virtual earth" that well. My only complaint is the "share" link on the mapping service is kinda small. I know it is next to print and all, but it should be glowy or bold or something. Most of the time you want to just send a link to a friend. I've had a few people ask me how they link me Tongue Out.

Microsoft definitely is a leader in the mapping space.

hey why didn't he say "shazaaaaam", tell him to include that in the next episode of many i believe. Smiley

He said you don't have to download anything to work Live maps, but you need to download V earth 3d to run it.

The truth is something very interesting what can be done today to edit a picture from a video for up with Stefan Weitz, Mega-Microsoftie can do Internet-type applications which are oriented and comprehensive services and software

haha!  More videos with Stefan, please!

I just wonder what kind of Internet speed do you need for that? ... and what's the typical requirements for the CPU?

I loved Tafiti, but it was of very little use as the CPU usage shot up to about 50% or so. So is this an actual tool? ... or just "yet another cool thing" from MS?

This might be the thing that I was missing in Google Maps which I use now. So I might switch, but only before making sure that its a tool.
