Microsoft and WebFusion in the UK have partnered to offer any UK student a free web hosting account so they can build their own websites for academic or personal use. The hosting includes:

-Windows Server 2008, IIS 7, 500 MB disk space
-1 SQL Server 2005 database
-Support for ASP.NET 2.0, .NET 3.0, classic ASP and PHP

All you need to do is to have received a “Free Webhosting” voucher with a unique redemption code on it and go to the WebFusion website to set it all up – there are already 10,000 of these being distributed on campuses around the country. We’ve held a few back here at Microsoft UK HQ to distribute to students who leave a comment on Ed’s blog.

If you're already lucky enough to have a voucher, then get on up!

Hmmm. I like it on the one hand - because it offers great value - but I don't like it on the other hand! Why are such things always only limited to the UK or US? It makes me always feel bad when all the rest of the world is excluded...
Everything is okay, except the UK-limitation and the 500 MB disk space.

Does anyone know a free webspace hoster, which supports also ASP.NET?

greets

Why your only limited to the ....ac.uk ????, Please you consider the students on the other country ): i'm from thailand (...ac.th).

We want to the little opportunitry for learning / coding / doing / testing / deploying / ... the microsoft technologies.

If you're after ALMOST free hosting, you can go with w3bbo's hosting package on C9. He's quite reasonable.

I pay £3.50 for 2GB disk space, a shedload of bandwidth and 7 Users. He also offers 50c per month deals, and is pretty flexible in setting you up with a decent deal.

He doesn't offer subdomains, but if you have two domains and want hosting for both, he'll give you half price hosting on one to compensate. It's awesome Smiley

Drop me an email if you want me to get in touch, since he doesn't hang around here, but if you're from Nine you can simply send him an email yourself.

Well we may have the server, but I have really crappy upload at my parents and closed ports on residential net at school. Oddly enough though the wireless system seems to implement some type of UPnP, I haven't figured that out yet Wink.

It sounds good news. But I'm not UK students,I'm Chinese students.

What time can we have this?

It will be better for us.
