Helping you decide what to buy!
Think active noise cancellation (ANC), think Bose ;to their credit, Bose has certainly done a fantastic job - product & marketing. The Aurvana X-Fi is proof that Creative can compete with Bose's QC2 (QC3, not yet). Although I believe that no matter what ANC headphone you get, a foam earplug would work just as well
I had three ways to empty my wallet boost the economy - the QC2/QC3 or the X-Fi priced at 380, 460 and 230 US Dollars. Most other brands such as Panasonic or Audiotechnica were not available at stores in Dubai. I ended up getting the cheapest of the 3, the Creative one... and here's the review
The Box:

Lots of marketing info product literature on the package, it's even got a flip out page
The headphones contain a DSP[CMSS 3D & Crystallizer] that enhances the signal. To me, they sound fantastic; the audio effects were theatrical when I was watching "The Dark Night", very realistic, crisp and immersive - like the sound was coming from everywhere, not from a single source.
What's Inside?

Very sturdy hard-shell case for the cans, wires and batteries; can definitely withstand a few drops and strong enough to be inside your backpack.
A Closer Look Perhaps..

Did ya see that?!! All gold connectors, specially made for monster cable lovers
detachable connectors mean extended product life- no more cable snapping worries. The headphones themselves seem fragile (lots of plastic), the case is a definite must while carrying these.

The AAA batteries go in the left can, while the right ones got all the controls (backlit). The size of these phones are comparable to the Bose Quiet Comfort 2. Battery life is around 7 hours on my 900mAh Energizer rechargeables; this is an issue if you're on a long haul flight or a heavy listener - you're definitely gonna need a few more batteries.

Very soft around-ear cushion
The noise cancellation levels are decent; without any music on, they could block out sounds like my CPU fan, mouse clicks. With music on, even tracks from Dire Straits on volume 9/20 in the Zune rendered me deaf to the outside world

Them cans work without batteries too, albeit with reduced volume.
Pros:
- headphones functional without battery
- Good level of noise cancellation
- CMSS-3D makes your movies sound theatrical.
- All connector cables detachable
Cons:
- Inappropriate 'price-brand mojo' ratio

- extra bright led indicators - distracting and unnecessary .
- poor battery life
Verdict:
If you've got active noise cancellation on your mind, these might the cheapest good ones you can get. Audiophiles should look at other options, noise cancellation headphones offer only so much.
