In an oversimplified way of putting it, SharePoint is FaceBook for the business world... really, however, it is significantly more. Adam, UCLA 2005, points out it is one of Microsoft's fastest products to reach $1 billion in sales...... ever.

So what's the big deal? Well it turns out it has been really difficult for companies to provision web sites--simple or complicated--in the past, and we listened to these pain points. So now with Windows SharePoint Services (WSS) as part of Windows Server, or a full fledged Microsoft Office SharePoint Server (MOSS), enterprises can quickly create document workspaces, shared calendaring, workflows, etc.
