Compilation beginners (vista under linke not produce exe)

Xiaodi using the Vista SP1.
With administrator privileges have been running a command prompt,
Operation are as follows:

C: \ MASM611 \ BIN> masm sound.asm (or masm sound)

Invoking: ML.EXE / I. / Zm / c / Ta sound.asm

Assembling: sound.asm

C: \ MASM611 \ BIN> linik sound.obj (or link sound)
; Key here is to enter this order, the window is only a cut and then SKIP

C: \ MASM611 \ BIN>

Directory sound.obj only produced a document, not sound.exe documents.

I use XP under the MASM this procedure is, the steps are the same.

C: \ MASM611 \ BIN> link sound.obj

Run File [sound.exe]:

And then continue to generate returns on the exe files.
Ask why this is, Is VISTA what settings wrong, or the operation of a problem.

This link can not be generated EXE files, is also in the school room, the system is XP.
This is probably a common problem.

Ah yeah... the corret english term is shift :D I said caps because I know there is a caps lock and thought that caps is the thing that makes the chars uppercase but doesn't lock :-S

true , but not Caps either. It is actually Ctrl + Shift + Enter.

It's so bad!

I do it as the administrator.

I successful complie it and produce a test.obj file.

but when i type : link test or link test.obj
it doesn't produce the test.exe file.

In addition to the above you can navigate to it via Windows Orb / Start, All Programs, Accessories then right-click on Command Prompt and choose "Run as administrator".

in Vista, you could type "cmd" in the start's search box and hit Ctrl + Alt +Enter and you are done . Saves you navigation time :)

the point is I don't know how to run as administrator in the dos environment (the cmd).

What's the issue that you get? You need to be a little bit more in detail... Perhaps you need to run the console, or wherever you compile from with Administrator credentials (right click on the console link and click "Run as administrator").
