Hi,

I'm interested in Visual SourceSafe, and I thought it was included in Visual Studio, but after downloading it and starting its installation I verified it does not include any version-control software.

Can anyone let me know in what software package is SourceSafe included?

Thanks a lot in advance.

Hey,

Visual SourceSafe is a stand alone product which means it is not part of any package. If you have an MSDN AA subscription it should be in there however... I'm not sure if it's in DreamSpark (although I think not).

Hope this helps.

Stephan.

I remember that SourceSafe used to be part of the Visual Studio package in versions 6 and older. Has that changed?

Anyone can confirm if it is definitely not in DreamSpark?
Visual SourceSafe is a separate product
I know it is a separate product.
But it used to be bandled into Visual Studio. In fact, I used to start the installation of Visual Studio just to select SourceSafe among the available tools because that was the only product I was interested in.
So it must have changed in the last years.

In any case, I would expect it to be included into DreamSpark as version-control is one of the most important parts of software development and students should get used to it from the beginning. But I can not find it. Does anyone know if/where it is?

Thanks a lot.
When I meant separate product, it meant that its no longer bundled with Visual Studio (from 2003, 2005, 2008) Wink

Do you school have MSDN AA? I think you can get it from MSDN AA

Please don't cross-post this in both forums! We read both forums... thanks!

No, I have just checked and my school does not have MSDN AA. What can I do now?
Hi!!

I have subscriptions to MSDN AA and I see that there are 2 versions: 2005 and the 6.0d, I have VS 2008, which one I have to download?
