Spurred by my IRL friend Endaf joining here, I decided to make this thread. I don't think he's ever been part of a forum before (and after this, I'm going to phone him and ask) and he seems kinda muddled as to the do's-n-don'ts of forum behaviour. I also reckon he's got to appreciate this is quite an unusual crowd - geeks can be ruthless or nice, depends on the situation. I'm also gonna turn this into a blog post.

So, the do's and don'ts of forum posting...

- NO CAPS
- TAIP PR0P3RLY
- Keep into discussion
- Don't steal other peoples threads (thats what the Start New Discussion button is for Tongue Out)
- Be nice, courteous
- Keep coming back, every few minutes - I think the key to C9s success is the fact that people follow it religiously
- Don't pretend to know things you don't (guilty! first couple of posts on 9.. I wizened up once I realised they only got me in sticky situations and 9 was way out of my league when I first joined.. but it's fast-tracked me to success)

Any additions? This is basically a helper for anybody who's not been on a forum before.. because endaf doesn't know the do's, don'ts or must haves of forums... at all.

....and don't use too many extension ellipses Tongue Out

thanks lloyd for the infomation i'll keep those pointers in mind till the next time.

There are no rules MUAAAHAHAHAHAH!

More like guidelines Wink

Always SPAM Max Tongue Out hehe... Seriously: a great compilation of guidelines, Lloyd. I think the most important thing is to respect each other and interact as if this would be a face to face discussion.

I think the key to C9s success is the fact that people follow it religiously

Ironicaly if people ever mention religion the thread inevitable decends into a flame war.

>> till next time

It's not till next time, it's till something-else-you-should've-known. Also, capitalize properly and use punctuation

(Don't be a Grammar *, nor a punctuation *, or a Capitalization *)

Well, if you want to be legalistic about it it should be 'till.  Tongue Out
Unless he's going to be cultivating soil next time, in which case that's perfectly correct Wink

(this site needs smileys.)
